Mashudu Tshikwalivha

Mashudu Tshikwalivha works at Madi a Thavha as a host, waiter and nowadays also as tour guide.

Her home is in a small village in rural Venda, she is married to Paul, our handy man and they live at Madi a Thavha with their 3 beautiful children.

Mashudu is good in English, likes to interact with guests and really enjoy being a tour guide. She did an official tour guide training course through Madi a Thavha and got her First Aid certificate at the same time. Mashudu is now a qualified guide who joins our guests in their car and takes them on village and lifestyle tours to Elim, Northern Venda and surroundings.

Our guests also like to hear how she integrate her own Venda traditions with a modern way of life. She is very knowledgeable about Venda culture and customs. Most tour guides in South Africa are men. We are so happy to have a woman like Mashudu as tour guide since so much about life in traditional homesteads evolves around how women organize and ground rural societies.
