By carving sculptures, traditional head rests and walking sticks, Japhter Luvhimbi is a prolific artist who believes in preserving his rich family heritage in his own way. He learned carving skills from his father.

He puts all his artistic aspirations and energy now into modern applicatikon of traditional work. His technical skills are at such an advanced level that he is able to use the very hard Leadwood to create his wood carvings. He recently started specializing in wooden jewelry, also from Leadwood and he works with jewelry and fashion designers in Johannesburg. Japhter works from his home-studio in Muledani close to Thohoyandou, Northern Limpopo.
