Traditional weaving is part of Frank Kubayi’s family heritage. He makes food baskets, wedding baskets and baskets for traditional healers and initiations. His food baskets, named ‘rihlelo’, are famous in the local community. He uses grass, wood and river reeds to weave the baskets. Making these baskets is a unique skill and requires a high level of workmanship. Frank works in his homestead at Rivierplaats near Elim, Northern Limpopo.
